"But you shall seek the place where the LORD your God chooses, out
of all your tribes, to put His name for His dwelling place; and there
you shall go. There you shall take your burnt offerings, your
sacrifices, your tithes, the heave offerings of your hand, your vowed
offerings, your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herds and
flocks" (Deuteronomy 12:5,6).
To gain God's greatest blessing we must embrace His highest purpose. God
desires to dwell in the midst of a people called by His name. It is time
to quit formulating programs and systems of religion and begging God to
be in them and bless them. God's way is for us to find out where He is
residing, what He is doing, where He has placed His approval and go
there or do that. When we seek to be where God is and do what God is
doing, it is already blessed and will prosper under His hand. The works
of God are accomplished when we become His workmanship by placing
ourselves in the place of His work.
The kingdom of God is to be in power. Until the church becomes the
habitation of God's presence it will be no more effective in this world
than a political party. We saw this demonstrated after the September
11th attacks when over five million people flocked to the church but few
ever returned because they did not find anything that impacted their
lives in a significant way. People are not looking for the wisdom of
men. They are looking for the demonstration of the Gospel in Spirit and
in power. The church must become a place where the manifest presence of
God is visible enough to effect the hearts of men and draw them into the
place of impartation and transformation for the release of God's
ministry.
God will only abide in the midst of a humble people, a people given
wholly over to Him for the transformation of their lives. "For thus
says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
"I dwell in the high and holy place, with him who has a contrite and
humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the
heart of the contrite ones" (Isaiah 57:15). God puts His name on
those whose hearts are fully committed to Him, those in whom the nature
and character of Christ is being formed in reality. Ministry will the
flow out of our devotional intimacy with Christ based on His will and
purpose and not based on the needs or wants of others. As long as the
church is driven by the desires of men it will not impact our society in
a transforming way or fulfill the commission of God . Only as we are
driven by love to live for the One Who died for us, will we see the
power of God released to build His church in purity and holiness. Only
as we submit to the leadership of the Holy Spirit in absolute obedience
will we be led in the highest purposes of God's glory.
